Protologue Description: FESTUCA RUBRA L., var. SUNVILLOSA Mert. & Kock, forma VIVIPARA, n.f., pubescentia ut apud varietum sed lemmatibus elongatis foliaceisque. Pubescence as in the variety, the lemmas elongated and leaflike. Meadow near sea-level on Govenor's Island, Bay of Island's 8 Aug., 1908: Eames & Godfrey, and about slides and cliffs up to the highest mountain summit.-Exactly parallel with var. prolifera Piper, which was not seen although the species occurs throughout.
